Have you checked the water level in the tank. Should be about one inch below the overflow tube. Any chance something fell in and is floating in the toilet cavity. You may need a toilet auger and either push it through or pull it out.

1/4 cup dawn dish soap, into the toilet. Let sit 1 hour. Then hot water but not boiling water. It should break up and all go down the pipes.
My plumber wanted the recipe.....
You may have roots in your plumbing pipes. If you can't unclog it with a plumber's snake (buy on Amazon or home improvement store), then bite the bullet and call a plumber. There are two kinds of snakes, one for drains and another for toilets, so be sure you get the right one if you order on line.
For about $10 you can buy a "snake" for your toilet, very easy to use and will fix it in no time.
