I have a similar problem. My hose goes out to the front of my property. I just disconnect mine for the winter. Not that much water gets pumped during the winter. If the temp does get above 40 degrees I reconnect it for that time.

Building a box around the pipe and insulating it with blue foam board, inside and outside should work.

It takes a lot of work but you can bury it down to the frost line. Then you can build a simple box that is well insulated around the pump.

Ok, I can build a box and insulate it. But, being a single lady at 62, I don't think I can dig that out. But, hey,Thank you for your help.i will definitely try too work on that box and insulation.! Thank you again, merry Christmas!

How often does your sump pump run? Seems to me, if your hose is slanted down after it leaves the sump pump, the water would run out and therefore not freeze. I left the hose flat when I put water in the birdbath and it froze overnight. Have to be sure it is slanted so water runs out.
