A Reverse Osmosis system is the best.

Aquasana and Pelican make whole-house filtration systems that reduce the chlorine up to 97%. I'm sure there are other systems out there. You should contact local companies that install such systems to get a better read on what's out there.

While reverse osmosis is a very good system, it does not always remove chlorine-- an additional carbon/charcoal filter is needed. In general, the chlorine has to go somewhere and that means it ends up in the air within the home.

i add this from experience so please heed my advice. Check with your city’s water Dept. They have to test for heavy metals, and toxic substances a minimum of 2 times a year. More if population meets a certain number.

I have had to filter arsenic out of our water and in no way is this a DIY situation! Later discovered it was contaminated with lead as well.

However, if you would rather not know, I highly recommend that you get with a reputable filtration company and have an RO system put in. Revese osmosis removes everything out of your water, leaving it pure, (its like the funny tasting water at hospitals). That little monthly fee, is for them to come and test your system to make sure it’s working properly and that nothing is getting by. Different contaminants are different sizes, so this is best left to the professionals. I used the same company who also does hospitals, they were no more expensive than any other filtration company!

Reverse osmosis systems are put in the home (some under the sink) and the link I provided states that a charcoal filter is needed to remove the chlorine. I have a reverse osmosis system in my home and like it very much, but it has limitations as do all the systems.

I never said that the gas was released through a charcoal filter. I said that there needs to be an additional filter with a reverse osmosis system in order to remove the chlorine. When you turn on a tap and you have chlorine in the water, some particles of chlorine are released into the air. It's not going to kill you, it is merely going to dissipate into the air.

I have no problems with reverse osmosis systems; in fact, I installed one myself. But for someone who is trying to eliminate the chlorine in their home, they need to know all the facts.
