Is that ribbon if so you have to burn the edges with a lighter and they have a jewelry tool called a clamp and works to press into the material.

    Hi Peggy,

Did you send it in a box or a padded envelope? As I understand the system, envelopes go through a machine so it's possible that the hardware was torn off by the machine. In the picture, it does look like the hardware was ripped off so it's also possible that the it wasn't far enough into the bookmark ribbon. Since you used the proper tools, it has to be some other reason. I hope you can figure it out. I'd make sure that it was wrapped in padding and in a box if I sent another one. Wishing you the best.

Always mark small package envelopes and regular envelopes that you are sending something like your key chain in, please hand cancel. This will keep it from being damaged by being sent through a machine.

If you can pry the grip part open without breaking, you may be able to reuse it. The material may be too thin for the fob to close properly. You could add a bit of stabilizer between the ribbons, just the size of the fob to thicken the area it is gripping and reapply the fob. Good luck. Please check out Kamsnaps.com's website, they also have a Facebook page that discusses issues like this and she offers quality merchandise (I have personally ordered from her and she will try to answer any and all questions that come her way. Great customer service. good luck

The hardware can be pried open with a flat blade screwdriver or a butter knife. The ribbon should be folded to give it bulk so the tines grip it. Also the tines can be adjusted so they grab the fabric. Then just use the tool or a hammer to close the hardware.

Also, check with the post office. It may be covered by their insurance for replacement.
