My tall metal floor lamp no longer screws into the base securely.
The place where the tall metal pole and the heavy stand screw in together is stripped. It won't stay upright.

Have you looked at the bottom?
Sometimes there is a locking nut or tightening the scew atrachment down there works to solve the wonkiness.

If possible put a heavy weight in the base of the lamp.
is the base under sized for the lamp? If so u might be able to add a broader base of similar metal
when mine wobble, I just turn the shaft of the lamp to tighten it in the base...as Vimarhonor said, could be a tightening nut also but mine do not have that.
