Hi Patricia, I would look for a local glass company that you could call. Unless your windows are new with a warranty of some kind a local company would be your best bet in finding someone who can replace the glass for you.

For a temporary fix you might try cutting a piece of clear contact paper to cover the crack on both sides of the window. By doing so you'll still be able to see out the window, but you might want to get the glass replaced by contacting a glass store. They can often replace the glass easily without having to replace the entire window and frame. Hope this helps!

Single pane the glass can be replaced. Double pane the glass panel would need to be replaced.

Recently had a double pane window pane replaced for $100 at a glass store in Richmond. Only one pane was cracked. Had to remove the window and drop it off-picked it up the next day.

Depends on what type of window. I just replace 1/2 of a double pane double hung Pella. Cost me over $200. Installed by myself or it would have been more. Look for a name on the edges of the window somewhere if they are the tilt outs, or etched on the glass itself. If you can find one and or model and manufacturer number call the mfgr. Some window REPAIR places can remove a "plug" that allows you to disassemble the frame and get one pane of a double pane window out and replace one pane of the two panes in the window. Look for a window REPAIR business in your area. Check all of these possibilities. Repairing one pane is much less than half of a double hung window.
