Is there a best practice for replacing door knobs?

I am replacing two door knobs. I finally got the screws to line up, but it was really aggravating. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks

The knob is almost in the way and makes inserting the screws perfectly straight difficult. ... of an inch longer... this should make it easier because you will have a little more screw ... of the lockset tight against the door and install the other normal length screw. ... Loosen them a few turns and see if this frees up the mechanism.
Sometimes it’s the strike plate on the other side that is the easiest thing to manipulate. Also check the hinge butts. They can be “malleted”.

I watched multiple YouTube videos to help me get more comfortable. My husband is great with hinges and strike plates, but has no patience for fiddling with the knob itself. A screwdriver, flashlight and patience works.
