What to do with door that came off the hinge?

Hello, Please help me. I purchased this cabinet as is. The problem is that one of the doors came off the hinge when I opened it (which didn’t happen in the store). I called the store Ashley furniture & they won’t help. Even though they agree it wasn’t like that when I purchased it. Therefore it happened in transit. Anyway, i attempted to screw the hinge back on but I observed that the wood was split. What can I do? Thanking you in advance.

Use a really good wood filler leave it for a day let it harden real good then rub down the filler until smooth you should then be able to put the hinge back on with a bit of paint to hide the filler if needed.

Another question. Do I brush it on like paint or try to squeeze it into the crack? Again thank you

it's a 'paste' -- use a putty knife or your finger ( watch out for splinters ) and you may want to clamp the edge - it looks like the screws/hinge was too big for the door -- Personally I'd use WOOD GLUE by ELMERS and clamps to squeeze the split wood back together. Wood FILLER is for filling holes, etc., more than for repairing split wood.

Make sure you pre drill the whole...little smaller than the replacement screw..(after repairs)....before you replace the door...this is probably why it split in the first place. The store should take it back...

Do not apply the clamps directly to the the cabinet. Use a couple of pieces of scrap wood on both sides that are the length of the split. Use wood glue as already suggested using a syringe to get it as deep as possible. Then, with the scrap wood in place, apply 3-4 clamps evenly spaced. Wipe off the excess glue that gets squeezed out. Let it dry and you can then add epoxy wood filler to even out any surface imperfections. Sand after the epoxy dries. You could also screw it from the sides for more stability. Just don't put those screws where the hinge screws will be.

Take the door off, fill the cracks with wood glue and clamp. When its fully dried drill pilot holes and reattach the door
