How can I make a handle for a flush mount barn door?

I had a barn door installed for my bathroom. The installer hasn’t returned to do the inside pull. I don’t have the tools to rout out a whole for a handle. Any suggestions for a handle? I’m getting tired of fighting to open the door from the inside. Thanks, in advance, to all you handy people!!

Hi Lori, You don't have to drill a hole to put a handle on the inside of the door, you can pick any style of handle you like and just screw it on, they come with their own hardware when you buy them,

I attached a pic of one style for you

So it's really a pocket door that in the walls? Barn doors are outside the walls. So sorry he skipped out on you. I can't think of anything that wouldn't stick out and prevent the door from closing properly. Hopefully you didn't pay him fully and hire a handy man to complete the job and subtract from bill. If not definitely call the Better Business Bureau and do a report. Also call him and tell him that's on your agenda and that may scare him to come back.

Look for a flush mount pocket door pull. That should do the trick. They come in several finishes, so you can match the other hardware.

I have looked at those but they still need to be put into the door for the handle to be big enough for fingers.
