How can I fix my bedroom doors that stick at the top of the door frame

Since moving into my house, both my bedroom doors stick at the top. I have already tried sanding them. Is there a way to lower the door without taking it off the hinge (which I can't do)? I am on a fixed income, so if I could do it myself, that would be preferable. Even with a door stop in place, my roommate's large dog forces my door open, and jumps on my bed in the middle of the night!

    Cut some off

That indicates there is some settling happening. Keep sanding until you get enough wood off that it doesn't stick. You may need some bracing in the basement under the door frame. If you are renting tell the landlord what is happening. A simple gate latch, the kind with a hook and eye would prevent the dog from opening the door.

Just keep sanding. Unless you you want to mess with the hinges. Sometimes you can loosen them and it will lower the door and you wont have to take them all the way off. The hook and eye latch also works keeping doors closed. I installed them on all of my kids’ closet doors (where we kept their dressers) so they couldn’t get in them. Good luck with the dog
