Rustoleum makes a melamine restoration kit, and they also have a Tub & Tile refinishing kit that would probably work. The operative word here is Epoxy as it tough as nails and repels water, in fact you could also buy Marine Epoxy refinisher too.

You could frame them in the metal trim used on exterior doors for a cool industrial look. Check your local Re-Store, if you have one, or watch the hardware store ads to help keep cost down.
