How can I repair a mahogany door that is darkened from water!

Sand all and restain. Seal with Spar varnish. Water stained area may remain darker so use the stain to even out. Beautiful door/entry. Do it right. You'll be pleased

Well first of all absolutely beautiful door whatever you do do not paint that door it is original and you might even take away some of the value of your home it's perfect,I would simply sand it down and restrain it to make it look fresh and clean.I have same kind of door with beveled glass adds value to home just clean it up.that's what I would do,best of luck..

I would hate to sand. Try a white wall cleaner(automotive) or bleach water carefully on only the dark places cause if it runs on wood that is OK it will streak. Be ready to wipe it off when it gets the desired lightness. If it doesn't wash off well it may continue to whited is , caution. Hope you find a solution. Remember sealer.

Clean it well, sand and use Gel stain by General finishes. Then topcoat it with their water based poly. Here is the website:

By doing this, everything will be the same color.

My husband removed the door and sidelights took them to a professional to strip the old stain. Once it was nude, I stained and put 3 coats of sealer on it. I clean and reseal every few years.

My husband covered the opening with plywood while the unit was out being stripped. I stain a lot but recognized stripping the stain on such a large project was just too much of a job for me. It was worth the money for a pro to do it and cheaper than replacing the door. Plus I love my front door and side panels and didn't want to replace them.
