How do I fix a pocket door?
We have a pocket door that separates the front of the house from the back. We had carpet put in and it was put in on top of a pebble tech floor we were stupid to even put in, it was beautiful but over a few years it got hard to walk on in bare feet. Now the pocket door won’t slide very well over the carpet because the floor is higher and I really don’t want to break the pocket door because they are really hard to replace. Right now we have a verticals door there but it is so noisy I am sick of it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Can the carpeting be cut back and a low threshold installed? Pocket doors are frightfully expensive, so I fully understand your dilemma. Perhaps a highly qualified carpenter could assist you, or a carpeting specialist.
You are going to have to cut some off the bottom of the door to keep the carpet under the door but since you can't open the door you may have to get a carpet professional to remove the carpet and reinstall it after the doors are cut. If that is not an option, place a thin strip of wood on the carpet on each side of the door, with a handsaw, 24 tooth at least, force the door out a bit and cut off what you can using the strips of wood as a thickness guide. If the door splinters too badly on the back side, cut the line that you are going to cut with a razor knife and cut below that cut. Remove the wood as you cut it, 1 or 2 inches at a time, moving the door out till it's cut all the way. Be patient, it's about a medium skill level job that some carpenters won't attempt.
Take the door out, cut it down then replace. Here is how:

They have adjusting brackets screws--adjust them so door is no longer dragging https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX06UGQi190 If that doesn't work.....Either sand, saw, or plane some of the bottom of the door off
