How do I remove scratches from glass that's frosted?
Hi Rhonda! Broken lead glass doors - so I have to ask, is the wood broken, or the glass? If it's the glass, I'd suggest carefully removing the broken pieces using pliers. In dealing with broken glass in the past myself, I've found putting the pieces into a paper bag before setting the bag into a garbage bag works best. Once you've done that, use a brush to clean up the edges. Maybe you want to paint the doors; perhaps re-stain. Once that is done, it's time to decide what material you want to use to replace the glass. You have several choices and so much depends on what the piece is and where it is, as well as how you plan on using it. You can have a glass shop replace the glass for you You can put chicken wire or landscape wire (smaller holes, usually used at the bottom of raised beds to keep rodents out of the gardens) into the former glassed in areas using staples. If you do this, please be careful of the pokey parts! Cut them off with wire cutters or bend them back so that they won't poke anyone. Another choice would be to replace the glass with fabric. Depending on the look you're going for, you could ruffle the fabric and staple it or you could stretch it flat and staple it.
As you can see, there are so many choices of how to handle this problem! I hope I've given you something to think about. Have fun!
