How hard is it to replace the exterior door frame on a brick house.

    The door frame is not attached to the brick. it is attached the house framing. The brick is just on the surface against the framing.

  • More difficult than you think. I would hire out to a licensed professionals, after all it is an entrance to your home, safety is important.

    • To me, that is dirt cheap and would gladly pay that amount, but not everyone can afford it. Check out William's link and watch a bunch of utube videos. Rent any tools you may not have. Take pictures of every step while disassembling so you know how to put back together with new material. Good luck!

    When you refer to the frame I think you are referring to the trim typically called brickmolding. It's nailed to the door frame only and it's purpose is to cover the gap between the door frame and the wall structure and brick. With a bit of skill it's a relatively easy repair. You need to be able to cut mitre joints at the top corners and accurately measure and cut lengths. Brickmold is available at your local lumber yard.
