You can buy door kits that will include the new french style door - you buy them to fit your opening. :)
Hi Dale, Here's some good information about the change. Maybe take a look at this before you decide for certain.
Hope this helps!

Hello Dale,
After you remove the glass , by lifting . You will have to make a frame for the door to be hinged to. Line the void with timber substantial enough to hold the door. Measure and make or if a Room door, buy from DIY store. Cut to size and fix hinges and hardware. If a Room door and you have never hung a door before, I would suggest you call in a carpenter who has done it many times before, as you can be hours trying to make it fit and possibly spoiling your door. If a cabinet it will be easier as you won't have the weight to worry about. Best wishes........
Hello. We did the opposite- we were replaced French doors with the sliding glass door sometimes this requires custom options. Might be best left up to window and door specialist. Best wishes with your upgrade
If they are the same size, you can purchase a pre-hung door and frame that is nailed into place. If the hinged door is a different size you will additionally have to either enlarge the opening or close it in before hanging the replacement door.
Unless you are very handy, I would call someone to do this job. You have to be sure there is no water damage or rot under the door there now and it has to be put in correctly so it will not leak.

We had our French doors installed. It was finicky work, getting it reframed, etc. We had sliding glass doors prior. Good luck and stay safe!
I found this video which may be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w89Sw_QXVAc
I would check builders surplus, they have an array of doors and can get you the help you need to replace them. This is going to be a very big job and I would leave it to a professional.
If this is an exterior door, there’s flashing & weatherstripping issues that must be addressed, and when demo’ing the existing door jambs there’s a very high chance of creating or finding damage or both.
I would hire a pro who will let you be their helper.
You can go buy the new door and the supplies to save some money.
