I mirrored the window panes around my bathroom but the glue is showing

Janis Gibson on Feb 24, 2015Except for taking them down I would get a stenci - perhaps a chevron or damask, etc., depending on the decor of your bathroom, and do a design over the mirror. It would let the mirror show through but may block enough of the stains. The "busier" the stencil, the more the stains will be covered. you don't say if they're (stains) are along the edge of the mirror panes or random? If along the edge, you could tape off to get a clean edge, and simply paint over the stains. Takes a couple coats. Don't do thick ones as they'll "slide" or "slump" down. Thin coats. Let dry. Build up layers. Stencils on glass and/or mirror, since you're pouncing, you can do in one step. Hope this helps! (I do a lot of painting on glass and mirror so I've got some experience.) Oh, and make sure you use some alcohol on your mirror so they're good and clean.Helpful Reply

163130 on Feb 24, 2015A photo would help but through experience if you put construction glue on the back of a mirror it will eat away at the shiny foil backing and you may have to take them down as they are destroyed or do some fancy painting technique like Janis has described in her comment above.javascript:Helpful Reply

Lisa B. on Feb 24, 2015There must be some way to antique the mirrors and make them look purposefully distressed. My dining nook us completely mirrored and the adhesive shows through in a fee small spots, but the mirror panels are so old that it now looks shabby chic. I'd research distressing or antiquing mirror/glass. I don't know if the liquid glass "tints" that a lot of people are using to color mason jars etc might work.Helpful Reply
