Brr! Drafty windows- how to cut the draft?

Can you post a picture? Is the door painted? You could sand defect and use a wood putty filler or a bondo filler if the door is painted.
I'd have to see the door, but if this is a flush hollow core door, well, I'm always looking for a reason to upgrade. Flush hollow core doors have no character and they would be out of the house quickly when they start falling apart.
You have some sort of damage here that you have not described so I can only guess how to repair it. Splintering veneer can be stabilized with wood glue and pressure.
