Old Window screens question

You can rescreen your existing windows with No-See-Um screening. Your local hardware store should carry it. There is a rubber tube that holds your screen in. Take a piece of that with you so that you can get the right sized replacement. You are also going to need the dimensions of all the windows you are rescreening.

As long as the screens have no holes, are in one piece and fit the windows properly, age does not matter. I still own the house I grew up in which my parents purchased in 1965 and I still have many of the original screens on the windows. I have the windows and screens washed professionally twice a year and if anything needs repairing that is the time to do it. In harsher climates, screens may need to be replaced more often and is not a hard task.

Do your screens have holes or gouges in them. No doubt they are metal screens which can rust and little holes come in them. Take the frames to a place where they rescreen windows if that is the case. Google rescreening and your town and state. Someone does it locally. I tried to rescreen some once and it is HARD. It cut my hands to pieces! I think it is one of those things that you would get the hang of but I only had 2 window screens to do and it was dreadful. Pay now to have them done!

I don't know if you need new screens but there are some mysteries that have never been solved like how do fruit flies get in your house? How do moths get in your closet? And where do spiders come from? Anyway, these mysteries cannot be solved by new screens. If your screens are not full of tears and holes, then you can blame the presence of some bugs on a "mystery."
