It looks like the ground has lifted. Take that section out, level and re-sand. Use a belt sander (you can rent one) and remove all the cement from the bricks. Re-lay down and cement in. It's time-consuming, but very cost effective. Good luck.
You poor thing, I've been there! Take out only the broken section, mix these pieces with quick set cement to tie it all together. It will appear as a designer mosaic at your front door. Btw, breaking pieces smaller is a great stress reliever! Good luck....
Bijous_2010,
How pricey is renting Sanders. This person said their budget was $0. But if they break all that walkway into pieces and relevel the ground under ... Then place all the broken pieces at random along the cut in and leveled ground then backfill the spaces between - pack down evenly ...will serve well until $$$$ can provide a more permanent results.
Chip it all out and make a new one from pallet wood. Free.
We have made boardwalks with wood. get pressure treated though so it will not degrade quickly. The least expensive way would be to remove the broken section lay landscape fabric, fill with sand, tamp the sand down flat, and the cover with pavers. Fill the space between pavers with more sand.
