t Are you handy with tools? If not you need a tradesperson. You will need a length of handrail which could be securely attached with the correct holder sold with the rails. Younhave a nice space for that either side top. You would need short newel posts attaching to the lower end and you have a nice space to attach them on the wide width you have there. The rail then attaches directly onto the same style holder you used on the top, these would be very secure. You can then fill the space on either side with anything decorative you desire, or leave open, as the hand rails themselves will be the sturdy part. If you do not know how to do this, then you really need a carpenter to make sure it is safely done. best of luck.
There’s a little more to it than being handy. Do you know what line of flight is? Can you set a newel post that doesn’t go loose in a year? Space the spindles and know how to correctly secure them or notch the post so it doesn’t protrude as far onto the floor? Do you know how to use rail bolts or the proper size screws? If not you can do a lot more damage, devalue your house and waste more material than a professional would charge you.
I'm sorry to say this but you might have to bare it down on the sides to make it secure on those last four steps. I'm not a tradesperson though. I'd ask around to get an experienced person to look at how the steps are fitted on the sides and get advice. Another option might be metal one piece units made for outdoors ( like wrought iron) and bolted into the existing sides.
I wouldn't attempt to do this type of project unless you study the structure of stairs components. It is a matter of safety. There are books with this information. The metal ones may be more diy.
