Ideas to hide an outlet cover inset in carpeted floor

I have an outlet cover inset in the carpet, but it is in the traffic area, not able to be covered by furniture. Now I have covered it with a large house plant, but it too is in the way. Any ideas?

You could cut a piece of carpet and glue to the top of the outlet cover, but you may have some difficulty finding it later!

If you have extra carpet, I'd cut a piece and add velcro to the carpet and the cover- easily removable if you ever need it!

small rug? floor pillows? small piece of furniture like a trunk or bench? do you have a pic or can you tell us what kind of furniture is nearby because that would really help? I also bet a carpet person could patch it with a piece of matching carpet found in a closet or someplace where a small piece wouldn't be missed. He could cut it to fit exactly and then spread the fibers so you wouldn't notice it. good luck!

Have you considered just placing a small throw rug over it? That would cover it, and yet keep it open for later use as well as keeping the floor open to the flow of traffic there. If the outlet sticks up out of the floor, and you're worried that there would be a "bump" under the throw rug, consider using a piece of foam backing on it the same thickness as the height of the "bump" from the outlet, then cut a circular piece out of the foam (assuming the outlet is circular) in the size of the outlet. Place the foam over the outlet, then place the throw rug on top of the foam. Make sure the foam is at least 1/2 inch smaller on each side than the rug, so it doesn't show.
