What ideas for the landing?

Apartment, as in you rent? As in you can’t do anything permanent, right? No nails, no screws? Is there anyway to hang anything at the ceiling level with clips or S hooks?

There are some great outdoor rugs on summer clearance right now.

Anchor it with pallets on end in an L-shape in the corner. The pallets could hold small pots with some silk flowers or silk ivy, they could be a way to mount flat sculpture “bas relief”

How much of your gate is fixed vs. operable? I would wire bamboo fencing to it, if your lease allows obscurzing the view.

This space has alot of potential. I would recommend some crates (paint to contrast with the colors in the area) and then stack them in various configurations to hold some colorful pots with plants in them or other cute decor pieces. I like Cheryl's recommendation about hanging a colorful area rug on the wall as well. Just watch your dimensions since it is hard to tell how much room there actually is in the picture. You do not want to overcrowd the space.

Hi there. Yes this is a rental, however not so strict here, as long as we restore to the original, if and when I move out. So not a problem.

Love the idea for a pallet on the wall. A cute rug would make a huge difference with some potted plants. Maybe some cute address numbers on the wall too!

I hear wind chimes, tuned ones. I also hear water, but my phone won’t let me go look for what I’m thinking of, while on here. Summer clearance items in lawn & garden, is great timing. I’ll be back with pics after I get some drywall hung & muffed...

Assumptions: The improvements are strictly visual (no function required), Nothing permanent.

• string lights attached with adhesive hooks
• lightweight, outdoor decorative items hung with adhesive hooks
• a mirror or a few mirrored tiles hung on the back wall might enhance security and also add depth to the space
• decorative, outdoor throw-rug or door mat
• floor space free and clear, except if a small door-side table is needed to assist entry (put down your bags while finding keys, etc.)

Bottom line: given this is a rental and is exterior, I would focus on functional décor (mirror is visual, also might help security; lights are visual, also might help security, etc.). I would treat this as an "outdoor entryway buffer area", from the outside world, into my retreat. Its a place where I transition from "out there" to "my safe and comfortable space", inside. The décor would reflect my personal needs in this space. What would make me relax as I pass through this area, into my home?

Goodwill is a great place to find inexpensive items, many are gently used. If painting is necessary, Valspar exterior paint at Ace Hardware is excellent. Consider treating items with exterior Scotch Guard, also, if necessary.
