My barn, Hawk’s Creek, has a stairway leading to a loft... my hideaway. I decided to paint each landing with art which was inspirational to me. I also painted some of my favorite Bible verses on the stair risers.

Thus: Stairway to Heaven.
Building a barn, especially one not used for animals can be a challenge. I wanted a loft for my personal space... my she shed of sorts. I love to write and finding a quiet space in my house is not always possible.  My barn, Hawk’s Creek, was built to serve two purposes. First a place to hold antique/art sales as an outlet for my other passion: missions. Secondly, as my getaway space.
The necessity for stairs was obvious, but adapting existing plans was not always an easy process. You can see from the before pictures, how we met the stair challenge. I am sitting with the sliding barn doors open  to Texas sunshine while writing. Purpose met... and relished.
Peace day and night
The process of paint stairs is like with any painting chore: sand... prime... base-coat... draw and paint art... top coat. I free-handed the sun and moon, and I used a stencil for the stars.
Verses to live by
These I did mostly with freehand with a little help from stencils for accuracy .
Upward
For this sun, I chose my favorite verse and used paint pens on this landing. I used rulers and a circle template to make sure everything looked good and even.
