Sharon, you CAN but it is BEST to first hang backer board. You don't really have full water protection without the backer board.
Hi Sharon. If you do if you ever try to remove it you will need to replace the sheet rock. There is a thin roll backer that can be applied to the sheetrock. It makes it easier to put up and take down. Happy remodeling!
I checked with Lowe’s to make sure I was right and you absolutely can. Just make sure everything is smooth. Good luck
My sister did with no problems but I've always used the cement board. I would recommend using thinset that is pre-mixed. Also, until the thinset is completely dry you should randomly drive a screw into the grout lines to prevent the tile from "sliding".
