How do I install a cottage looking backsplash in my kitchen?

I haven't bought them yet but was looking to get wipable white tile or wood for a backsplash in my kitchen. Open to other suggestions, but don't want the "usual" and want it to be practical so less grout than subway tile. Thanks! MACJOY

Noreen, I've seen the cutest backsplashes done with art or other decorative items and then covered with glass. No grout at all! And you can make it match any decor.
I was and still am looking for a backsplash for my kitchen, but decided to wait until I get my new countertops. My kitchen is a vintage cottage style . For your backsplash you might want to use beadboard or pegboard . They also make a peel and stick real wood planks for use on a wall. Also you can look into tin files that look vintage
You could also get stainless steel tiles sold at Home Depot
If you are on a very limited budget, or simply like a rustic beach look, consider nailing or gluing scrap wood like old pallets. You can either use a couple coats of paint or clear urethane to give a smoother surface.
