i Have ugly subway tile as our kitchen backsplash. I want to replace it, but don’t want to remove it. I’d like to lay it over the current backsplash.

Subway tile is always in style! ...just make sure it's squeaky clean. ...If the grout is looking a bit dull (you may want to re-grout --- maybe even using a taupe color for contrast.

They now have peel and stick black splash squares that you can put over old tiles. Just make sure the old ones are cleaned real good. .Either power wash them. Or use baking soda and water paste to clean them.

I bought these stickers on Amazon. They are over some horrid 1980's tile with a wheat pattern. Cost $50 and some time. There are SO MANY different pattern and colors.

I'm not sure what your question is but here's my opinion. To do the job right, you should remove the old tile. The old tile will stick out on the sides, the electric sockets and switches will have to be moved out and it's just not a good surface to tile on top of. Save yourself a lot of headaches and remove it.

If you're asking for suggestions, I like to use a neutral field tile with just decorative tiles as accents. Here are two kitchens and a bathroom that I've done. Also, I don't know if you're going to continue the tile after the countertop stops. If you aren't continuing it, you can use a Schluter edge to finish off the end instead of bullnose.

Why not do random decals? Easy, cheap, and you can change your mind whenever you like.
