I would replace it. We had a house where the previous owner had the tub and tile all "reglazed" just prior to selling. It did not stand up to normal use, and it all began quickly to peel. In addition, it was easily scratched, and could not be scrubbed the way a bathtub and walls should be scrubbed. Don't paint it.
You could add tile stickers or transfers if you don't want to paint - at least they won't chip and you can take them off and change them if you wanted without to much disruption..........

Yes you can paint tile. You just need to get paint meant for that!

RustOleum makes a kit that is great. Make sure the area is well ventilated, you need 2 people, fans are good (run in reverse), wear good respirators, and follow directions exactly. Don't use for 5 days to cure completely.
