Should I tile over the existing tub surround or remove and replace it?

Hello,
My home is 40+ years old and I did a partial upgrade on my tiny master bathroom. I have decided to complete a full upgrade and take everything back to the studs.
My question is should I tile over the existing tub surround or should I tear it out and install a new one? it is a solid surface material and not sure what it is and is still in good shape.
Let me know your thoughts.

For a new surround to be successful, you need to tear the old one out.
Tile will not hold to fiberglass or composite. Tear the old one out and replace it or install cement board and tile.
Since you are down to the studs, I think you are better off replacing everything because you would want the fiberglass to fail and ruin all your work. Good luck.
Remove it to install tile.
