Keep in mind that purchasing the cheapest price tiles for flooring is not always the cheapest route in the end. Lower priced tiles are thinner and more brittle than higher end tiles. This leads to more breakage during the cutting and fitting stages, resulting in a larger pile of broken and un-useable tiles, which necessitates purchasing more.

The sq footage that one box of tiles covers is only a suggested area, and does not include any of the tiles that crack or break during the install nor any of the tiles that cannot be used in pattern matching, if applicable.

    Hello Cassie

Ceramic as all you need to do is wipe them down. They don't need sealing. good luck!

  • I would get ceramic ones. I totally agree with getting good quality ones for the floor because they are thicker.

Stone tiles for the floor, they are very durable, For the walls, ceramic is fine because they do not have the same purpose as floor tiles.

Lately I have been seeing a new floor product that I am excited to try. It is an interlocking waterproof floating floor(NOT peel and stick) that you can use in bathrooms and basements that can flood. It is specifically used for areas that are very wet. You can apply it right over ceramic tile. It does not need grout so it is easy to put in. They carry this type of flooring in Home Depot and Lowes. It isn't cheaper than ceramic tile but as far as application, it is easier to install and diy without GROUT! The product has different textures and looks. Some look like ceramic tile, most look like hardwood. Just an idea I am throwing at you. I want to re-do our bathroom floors and I was thinking about for our house. Grout seems to always stain or break up and this would eliminate that. We have a floating floor in our basement and it has done well with 2 floods from hurricanes. That floor wasn't even labeled as waterproof so I am curious how the newer product is. Good luck!

Porcelain is affordable and durable and you can find tiles that look like natural materials like marble.

Hello. What type of tiles you might suggest we might depend on your decor aesthetic and budget. We have chosen porcelain tiles tiles for our use after consideration and research.

It would depend on your skill level. Also, the placement (walls or floors - surround or otherwise). I like the self spacing tile in the surround area with accent tile. They have virtually no way to seep water behind them. For flooring, make sure it is non slip.

You should use one of two types of tiles, porcelain or ceramic. Both stand up to the heat and water well. Of you are talking about the floor, and want a cheap easy fix you can use peel and stick.

You didn't say weather you were doing a floor or a wall. There are sheets about 12" square you can buy at Home Depot or Lowes that makes it much easier than working with individual tiles if you have never done so. They are forgiving and you can cut the backing with scissors or exacto knife.

It is a matter of your personal preference really. We went to a tile store and looked at the ones we liked and took samples home and laid them to see if we liked them in our bathroom. You can return the samples and get a refund and now you have the tile that looks like wood planks for floors and walls that is beautiful.

There are so many choices out there for you

Hi Cassie, hope this helps you know what type tile is better for your bathroom.

    Porcelain tile

Porcelain tile is a popular choice for bathroom floors. Porcelain is a denser, less porous and harder option that offers greater stain and water resistance than ceramic tile. Plus, it's suitable for radiant in-floor heat to keep feet toasty on cool mornings. Porcelain offers unmatched design versatility.

Yes, Where are you going to put them?

Do you have access to a tile saw?

Are you going to rent one? If so, make sure you've a new blade, as porcelain tiles hate dull blades.

Also, don't rent the saw until you're ready for the cuts.

Floor tile must be slip resistant.

I wouldn't put peel and stick vinyl tile on a high-use bathroom floor (powder room is fine). Too many seams.

Wall tile can be all kinds, from porcelain mosaics to 4x4 glazed to large scale.
