do have to be removed. Clean floor like cleaning it for your out of town vister, LOL,
let dry good. Then start to apply the tile. In fact the vinal flooring is down tight. Therefore gives a good base fot the title to rip even and stron. Done more times then I can count. Silly but I change the tile almost as often as stopping the bed wash the sheets and put more on! Really not that often. Good luck doesn’t take long at all.

Definitely remove it.
While some say you can, I am old school - remove it before tiling. That is my vote.
House no. One, the tile went over the very well glued down vynial squares. Given thier age, they were most likely to contain asbestos. They were textured squares so there was a bit of something for the tile mastic to grip.
