How do I replace grout in the shower?

Grout in the shower is missing in my shower where it meets the floor. Mold is starting to grow in the missing area. I know I have to treat and remove the mold prior to replacing grout. What should my next step be?

Grout is important - but so is sealing it. You can buy caulk that is special for bathrooms and is color matched to your grout. This will keep leaks from happening. You're 100% correct about fixing the mold first. :)

Both grout and sealant can be purchased and premixed ready to use tubes for a small area like that. Then you just squeeze it out, smooth, and let it dry. Done:)
You can get everything you need at your local home improvement store to mix and replace the grout. After it's dry, be sure to caulk it to make it water-tight.
Grouting is easy. Mix according to directions on the bag or box. Dampen the existing area with a spray bottle and put the grout in with your fingers or a small putty knife. It sets up fairly quickly. Wipe with a wet sponge to smooth and clean up grout on areas where you don't want it. Purchase a grout sealer and paint it on when the grout has thoroughly dried. It is worth the effort for this step as it preserves the grout from absorbing soap and turning color. Give it a couple of coats.
They have grout saws at the home improvement center’s that might be the easiest way to remove the old grout additionally in the same area you’ll the find the replacement tile grout and grout sealer. Be sure to let the area dry before exposing it to water as product packaging dictates.
If it's where a wall meets the floor you use caulk not grout. Get tub and tile caulk. Has mildewcides in it to slow mold growth

Clean the area with bleach. Rinse well. Then clean the area with vinegar. Vinegar kills mold spores. Do not mix the two. Fumes are harmful. Then recaulk with bathroom caulk. The shower floor must have some movement causing the caulk to loosen. Bathroom caulk stays flexible to go with the movement. Make sure it's 100% silicone.
