Hi ! You will need to use a carpet cutter ( hand held, nothing special ) and cut the carpet in strips , roll it up and remove it . Then you need to remove the tack strips at the edges. Next you need to see what surface is under the carpet and see if the peel and stick tile will adhere to it ! Sometimes in some cases you will need to add an adhesive along with the peel and stick tile . When laying down the tile the floor needs to be flat and smooth , you might need to patch spots on the floor. We put down peel and stick wood look vinyl planks in our bathroom , when we removed the vanity there wasn't any vinyl floor tile underneath , so my husband bought a few cheap peel and stick tiles from home depot, so the floor would be even and level before he put down the new peel and stick plank s ( long tile ) we were so happy with how nice it looked as used it in our other bathroom , laundry room , kitchen and entryway !!! Good luck !!

Lay it out before sticking. I found the middle of the room and worked out in all four directions

I used some vinyl floor adhesive and they really lasted.

  • Be sure to get a primer adhesive, it really makes a difference.

Hi Wendy, once you have removed the carpet & clean the floor thoroughly you will want to snap a chalk line to ensure your first row is straight. Here is a video that shows you how to install your tikes, hope it helps you out,
