In my kitchen the walls are covered half way with white ceramic tiles. Money is scarce so i need suggestions on how i can improve the looks without taking them off. I would appreciate it dearly. Wall paper isnt great either but thats a different post.

I think that if you stain or paint the grout a light color (don't forget to seal it), paint the wallpaper and get a new light switch cover it will transform your kitchen. Painting tile isn't always successful.

I covered mine up by gluing inexpensive white bead board over the tile. I then glued thin quarter round at the bottom where the wall and counter meet.

I think painting the tiles simply white loke a tile wainscoting wouldn't be too risky. They even make easy to use tub and tile kits that are made to be very durable. Painting the trim too would brighten the space dramatically.

You might be able to prime it and paint it.
