Best way to write on tile so its holds up to outdoor elements?

I have already tried nail polish with a cured clear gel polish as a protective seal coat but it peeled off. Next I tried permanent marker with a spray enamel but that smeared and ran into each other. What else can I try?

    Hi Lca,
A lot of people recommend marine varnish for an outdoor sealant. It's meant to hold up to water so it should work very well. You should be able to find it at Lowes, Home Depot, or Amazon. I hope that helps you. Wishing you the best.

Hi, the sealer on the tile needs to be either roughed up breaking up the coating that is on the tiles themselves or completely removed. Sealers that do not specify they can also be used on ceramics or natural stone probably will not adhere properly. Prep your tiles, then whatever paint or enamel you want to use will more than likely last. Good luck.

You can write on tile with a permanent oil Sharpie pen. They are available in different tips from fine to thick and in various color choices and are very permanent. As was advised earlier a marine varnish would just add to your writing being protected.
