My friends and I got together recently in my craft space and one of them brought a box of blocks that were made from 2 x 4’s that she got at a garage sale. The letters were Q, F and V. Being retired teachers we knew we couldn’t spell anything with them. Some ideas were thrown around and then I spotted a louvered door that was falling apart.

Here are the blocks. Someone did a great job of making them.

Here is that door that was falling part.

So we grabbed some wood glue, nails, 6 slats and made sides and a bottom. We ended up using an air nailer in the end. It was just so much easier!

Almost done. This project was quick and easy to do. We had them done in no time at all.

We decided to keep them rustic. But, you could paint or stain the slats to go with your decor.

And here are the completed boxes. They can be filled with color books and crayons for a children’s gift or put plants in them on a windowsill. The possibilities are endless.

I've never seen old toy blocks like this. They are charming. Good job!

I love the wonderful colored blocks. This would make a great centerpiece for Fall or any faux plants on a mantle and even outside on a porch. Ideas are endless with a few recycled and upcycled pieces. Brilliant idea.
