paint it and put a metal bucket on the top with ice and use for your cold drinks when entertaining. If that does not sound of interest I would also use it for a plant stand.

how about making it into an end table or nightstand?Or paint the top like a checkerboard.I've seen both ideas on this site.

I have a barstool that I use for a stand to hold craft supplies handy. I found a basket that rests on the lower rungs and a vintage tray on the top. The raised edges of the tray keep things from rolling off. Having this next to my chair while I'm working frees up table space.

There was a post on Hometalk some time ago where a lone barstool was turned upside down and used to store gift wrap. I thought it was brilliant - here is the link: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/kitchen-dining/kitchen-dining-furniture/upcycled-kitchen-stool-gift-wrap-caddy-6956938

I have one that makes a great plant stand on my screened porch.
  • Cindy Thomas Cindy Thomas on Dec 22, 2015
I have one also! It floats from room to room, I even have various tops I put on it, a round one or a square tile one, tablecloths for it. It's been a corner table, a large plant stand, a Christmas tree side table, a small TV stand, a guest room towel stand...and even a stool for the kitchen. It's tall enough to display stuff behind my sofa, like a big wicker basket with throw blankets. Right now it's in the corner with a big poinsettia on it, and some around the bottom on various sizes of blocks. Love my barstool ...

CUT the legs off just above the bottom circle & add a piece of wood to the bottom half. One stool will become 2 stools. OR you could cut it the same as above & put batting & fabric over the wooden pieces for cushioned stools (or ottomans) :)

Paper holder has been done a lot...I would do something that hasn't been done. I would take off padding and add rollers that you can lock. The I would make a seat on the foot rest area. If its metal or wood you could cut off one of the legs to the old foot rest circle and sand to smooth. I then would get the wood that you soak to form around the other 3 legs for a back rest. This would be more of a chair at this point you could also make padding for bottom and back rest. Or it could be cut down to a child chair or swing by adding dowels.

Upside down..... rollers on the underside of the set, put wrapping tubes of paper inside, hang scissors, tape, etc off side rungs with velcro..... all set for every occasion.
  • Mary Solt Mary Solt on Dec 22, 2015
Turn it upside down, give it a coat of paint, a really bright color, screw 4 wheels into the seat so that it rolls and use it for storage of rolls of paper, ie Christmas, Birthday, any occasion, etc,...this was on Pinterest today.
  • Julie S Julie S on Dec 22, 2015
Paint and decoupage to go with your kitchen decor
  • Leslie Leslie on Dec 22, 2015
I think by the sound of it you love this stool and don't want to do anything drastic to it. If the color is not right paint it then get a beautiful plant that you would normally hang and set it on the seat part. If you observe the Christmas season find a smaller artificial tree and use the stool as a stand. decorate the tree put where wanted plug in and enjoy. Simple :) If you are married and your husband has a tool shop out in the garage, let him use the stool to sit on while working at his bench. Paint it from white to whatever color he wants or you can do a checkered flag motif on the top and paint the legs red :) Good luck !

I took a bar stool, put a wood round disc (Lowe's, Home Depot) and made a night stand. I love it and so does everyone else that sees it. I have rungs on the stool, since I roll my magazines etc. and put in there...instant magazine rack.
  • Deb Deb on Dec 22, 2015
Turn upside down and use to store rolls of wrapping paper. Some leave just plain wood, some put a skirt to hide the rolls.
  • Nancy Block Nancy Block on Dec 22, 2015
You can paint it red or green and either stencil or freehand the words, Kitchen Helper and keep in kitchen. You can use it for extra counter space. Or you can chop off legs and use for display. Or you can turn upside down for Christmas wrapping

Thank you all so much. I already have a wrapping paper container, so I think I'll pUT it out in my garden with a large bowl and make it a bid bath.
  • Cindie Cindie on Dec 22, 2015
I covered the top with a pretty piece of fabric with a 2" overhang, or deeper if your "seat" area is thicker than 1/2", so that I could attach 1/4" elastic to the outer edge of the circle. The goal is to protect the top with fabric and clear plastic to make a shower cap cover for the seat area. then I put it on my sun porch and use it as a plant stand. I painted the legs a bright color that matched the fabric top that fits with my décor. Now I have a pop of color in the corner and it is easier to water my plant.

I just used mine for a sturdy stand (with a piece of christmas fabric draped to the floor) for my fiber optic tree in the front window. You can use any fabric to cover year round and you'll have a small portable side table to sit your wineglass on

I seen somewhere that they turned it upside down and made a wrapping station. Rolls of paper filled the center you could hang bags from the legs, spools of ribbon fit on the legs. It looked really cute.

At Home Depot you can get an unfinished wooden "round" that is about 17" in diameter, and maybe 1" thick. Attach it to the top of your stool and paint to match. Nice little side table or plant stand with a little more table top area than the stool by itself.
    • Polly Zieper Polly Zieper on Dec 28, 2015
I saw someone on this site who used a wooden 'round' to paint a checkerboard.
  • Die2933100 Die2933100 on Dec 23, 2015
I would also make a side table for next to a bed or even in the corner of any room and put a nice lamp on it. I would turn some thick rope round the bottom circle (between the legs) to form a flat surface to put some magazines on.
  • Ruth Guenzler Ruth Guenzler on Dec 23, 2015
There's 100 things you can do with that stool. They make a great stand for a large plant, shorten the legs and make a side table, you can put a larger top on it if needed. I love to put them in a flower bed and affix a shallow bowl to the top and create a bird bath and trellis for a climbing plant. You can turn it upside down, affix wheels and use to corral rolls of wrapping paper or something else. If you like the stool you can find a good way to give it new life and keep it.
  • Ann Ann on Dec 24, 2015
I've seen them turned upside down, attach castors to the seat and make bags and tie them to the legs to hold scissors and tape, another for bows. Put your rolls of wrapping paper in the center. Good luck.

I agree with all of the previous comments...just searc Hometalk, Pinterest, or any other website and use the idea that you like best. Have fun!
  • Cindi Cindi on Jan 09, 2016
The picture looks like it's metal with a wood top. I like the color, so personally I would paint a design on the wood top, and you could even tie in the design on the legs (checkerboard, etc.). I have several wood stools I've been collecting from thrift stores, to do that funky painting on, and wooden turntables, whenever I have time. There's a lot of ideas on Pinterest (I'm a Pinterest junkie). Some are real detailed, some are easier, and more simple. I also like to mosaic with crash glass, but I wouldn't want to sit on it. It has a great wood top though, so I'd do something great with that, to go with the red color.

I love to 'set' on a stool while cooking. Lots of recipes call for 'stirring till it begins to boil'. I find it makes stove-top cooking a more relaxing experience after working all day.
    • Karen Holsopple Karen Holsopple on Jan 11, 2016
@Ellen So do I which is why I bought the stool in the first place. But then I found a vintage stool with the bottom piece that comes out with the two foot rests. I'm working on redoing that as well as my vintage chrome kitchen set. But thank you so much.
