Hi Pam, These were made as an ornament,or Bookend, they were never meant to be used! I would emagine you would destroy them or certainly devalue them if you try to remove the base. Do take care!
They make great bookends, if mounted that way, on sturdy bases!
Hello Pam, How about a Paperweight, or Sell them as is, or if there is no other way, cut the base down and stain the edges black with a Sharpie..........or re-polish or Varnish... Best wishes...........
