Can you dry a real gigantic sunflower to be used in a project.

I recently had a bunch of these huge flowers show up in my yard and it would be really cool if I could use them for something,

    Hi Susan,

    Yes, you can!

    What we used to do with ours was cut off the flower head about 1/3 of the way down the stalk, tie a heavy string or light rope to the end of the flower stalk you just cut, Hang it upside until dry.

    Yes you can. The trick is to get them before the critters.. about time they are full of the sunflower seeds they will go for them and strip every seed in a night.. My dad dried his. I THINK he cut the stem long when in full bloom, hung them upside down in a cool place to dry, then cut the step short. He has also cut them just behind the bloom placed flat to dry and put them out in the fall for the birds to feast on
