Do you have any good ideas on how to reuse large one gallon glass jar?

giant snow globes :-) or a manger scene -- maybe use cardstock cut-outs for the people (you could print them from a computer and they could color them in), rather than figurines to keep the price down. You could hang an angel from the lid with string.
You could make little terrariums with succulent plants for the parents. Or you could make "fairy" gardens. Kids love to imagine tiny villages with fairies. You could lay the jars on their sides or sit them upright and fill with dirt, pebbles, etc. They can build tiny houses out of sticks/pinecones/acorns or whatever items you can scavenge from the yard.
We had some Patron bottles (not ours my daughter works for a cleaning company!) with the cork lid....we attached several glow sticks (if you place heavy wire down side you make shapes!). Seeing yours will have larger openings the kids will be able to do all kinds of designs. Place along the sidewalk for night services etc....
Decorate and fill with homemade cookies. Donate to a shelter.
Those are all great ideas! I was thinking of turning one into a treat jar. Little rewards that would go to students who did well in class. You could put those little washcloths that start out as cubes (at the dollar store), candy canes, pads of paper, etc.
add twinkle lights & paint the glass, use battery operated or solar
Terrariums would be great for the kids to give as a present and stay involved with parent caring for the plants.
i use mine to make red beet eggs mmmmmmm you can get 2 dozen eggs and all the other ingredients in there.
They make awesome terrariums and fairy gardens with miniature furniture! Google has tons of pictures!
They are also great for pantry storage, once you get the smell out! Try soaking overnight in leftover weak coffee. I use large jars for sugar, flour, pastas, and cereals.
Cut the top for coins. Have the children decide what project to donate the money to. In my church we have an adopt a family (or person) and use the change to purchase a Christmas gift. Or could buy school supplies, a gift for a new baby in the church.
