Hi Cindy, here's a great step by step tutorial that matches my own experience turning two old dressers into vanities in my own home: https://www.thelittlebylittlehome.com/how-to-convert-dresser-into-bathroom-vanity/
It really isn't that hard of a project just stressful making the cuts right etc. Depending on the type of sink that you choose.
Hi Cindy, I have a friend who actually made a dresser into a vanityi. It takes some measuring and appropriate cutting but hers turned out great! She's sinc sold her house to people who absolutely loved it.
Here's some inspiration for you.....

Sounds like a great idea. You will loose the top drawers though. The only other thing that may be an issue is the height. Good luck

Vintage Dresser Vanity
Keep in mind that the dresser height will most likely not be high enough to use the sink comfortably, if the sink was mounted down into the vanity. This is one of the main reasons why higher vessel (some examples in pictures above) sinks are often chosen instead. The countertop height may still be too low though to be used frequently without having to lean over at an awkward angle.
Other than a vessel sink, there are two other ways of adapting the height of the dresser/vanity unit. One is to install heigher legs, and the other is to construct a frame base that the vanity sits on.
You can do it by adding a sink to the top, sitting on it, or by cutting a hole and doing a drop in sink. My husband has done both. The height would probably dictate which way you want to go but I would think the on top would be a more upscale look. You can run the plumbing down the back on inside, the type of sink will dictate. Drain of course will have to be drilled and ran through the chamber. You can leave the drawer faces the same but shorten the interior width allowing you to still be able to use them.

Hi Cindy, turning a dresser into a vanity is a great idea and it's pretty easy to do. If you're worried about cutting a hole for the sink portion, you can buy one of those counter top sinks instead. I would invest in a very good marine sealer to seal the top of the dresser and protect it from water damage.
Absolutely! I’ve seen lots of these and I bet if you used the search bar at the top left, you’ll find loads of great inspiration.
