How do I redo a flattop steamer trunk to a coffee table?
I want to redo a flat top steamer trunk into a coffee table. What materials should I use and can I just put feet on it or should there be a foundation under it for support? Thanks!

Depending on the condition and durability, you should be able to to put feet on the base. If you could post a picture of the trunk it would help with answers for design on the top.
If it is in good shape, you should be able to just use it as is - or you can get a piece of tempered glass or Plexi-glass cut to fit.
A steamer trunk generally has drawers inside, so actually it could stand upright. If it is a real steamer trunk the storage space might be un usable if the trunk is laid on its back. If your trunk is one that is just open inside, casters would make it easier to move, but otherwise it would not need any more support used as a coffee table than used as a trunk. These make great coffee tables.
This is the trunk turned on it’s side. It’s 36.5” wife and 22” tall. The top feels like a leather finish. how can I determine for sure? And what material would I use to restore it If it is leather?
