How do I refinish a small desk/vanity?
I bought a small desk to use as a vanity for my beautiful daughter. It needs to be refinished but I'm not exactly sure the best method. I believe it is partial laminate and veneer. Sand or not to sand? Primer, I'm certain is needed. What is the best type of paint to use? It will need to stand up to cleaning products. Also, any DIY lighting thoughts would be great. Thanks for helping me out!

I don’t know but I’m definitely following. This is so pretty - love it. Good luck!
My personal choice would be chalk paint. No primer or sanding. Your surface looks good for chalk paint.
Chalk paint is my favorite because it's easy to work with and requires minimal prep. You can check out some of my tips here http://beautyforasheshome.com/thrift-store-table-flip-chalk-paint/
I like oil paints clean, sand, wipe down, prime and paint minimum two coats. For a young child, I’d use a high gloss paint, easier to clean. Whatever you choose, remember you may need to change everything in ten or twelve years, be kind to yourself and do your homework.
This vanity was part wood and part presswood. I share the full process on the update here. https://www.justthewoods.com/little-girls-vanity-makeover/
You have a lot of options depending on how much work you’d like to put into it. If you do go the chalk paint route, easiest, I definitely recommend that you finish with 1-2 polycrylic coats to protect it.
