Can you share a photo? That will help for ideas! :)

  • You can buy lamp kits at your local hardware or home improvement store and rewire the lamp.

Has a different type of switch on the post. So that won't work. Thought l could repurpose it for something else. Thanks.

If you don't want to rewire, you might be able to put flameless candles or battery operating tea lights in their place.

  • We have rewired many old lamps. You can purchase the kits at Home Depot or online. Just always use caution when working with electrical appliances.

It is not difficult to rewire old lamps. The wire, sockets, etc are available at most hardware stores. Basically you remove the old wire, but connect to the new, so when you are pulling the old wire out, you are pulling the new wire in. When you have removed the old wire you will notice that it is split in two so there is one wire to wrap around each of the little screws on the socket. replace the old wire with the new wire, tighten the screws, replace the cardboard sleeve; test with bulb to make sure every thing is working (you will need a plug on the lamp too) Don't touch any bare wire on the lamp. A lamp is far different from wiring jobs in ceilings and walls, for that you might have to turn off house electricity.

As others have said, the easiest thing might be to rewire it, rather than repurpose it. You should be able to find rewiring kits at most home improvement stores. Here's a good tutorial: https://www.hgtv.com/design/decorating/furniture-and-accessories/how-to-rewire-a-lamp

Is there any way you can use it for a hanging plant stand? Might need to add something to the top....and use two so the lamp will stand balanced with a plant on each side. Depends on what the lamp looks like and how sturdy it is. Also I had a tall plant stand that I put a big Boston fern on and it looked gorgeous. You could put a flat wood "plate" on top and set your fern or any other hanging plant on it...could use ivy or pothos or something like that.
