How do you DIY to repurpose clothing?

I had an old sweater that I’d not only outgrown, but it had some pretty bad stains!! Instead of throwing it out, I turned it into a winter wreath and hung it on my door!!!

You can cut out mitten shapes on the sweater. Make sure the finished bottom of the sweater becomes the bottom of your mitten. You can get quite a few pairs out of one sweater, depending what sizes you need. If you want extra warm mittens try shrinking cashmere or wool sweaters first. Two halves for each mitten you can sew together on your sewing machine. Then turn right side out and you are done. Easy new pair of mittens without knitting a stitch!

Bonus Tip: I cut out of an old shrunken cashmere sweater a new warm coat for my daughter's dog. Red looked real nice on her American Cocker Spaniel. I made booties and leggings too for her out of the rest of it. It was lightweight and warm and since it was pre-shrunk it was easy to clean! yellowbarninteriors.com

I've made throw pillows and a cat bed out of old sweaters and sweatshirts. Laundry bags and grocery totes from old jeans pants and skirts. And several quilts from other clothing, as well as a cloth doll and dresses for it from the scraps.
