Get a hinge or ell brackets and attach the shutters long was together rather paint then distress them or leave them you could add decorative pieces of wood to the corners then hang it on the wall by large nails that you will put up with a level so it's streight.
You can turn it sideways and screw it directly into the wall.

Great idea! You can connect them together on the backside with some wood, then use that wood as a wall mount hanging system or you can attach the shutters directly to the wall.
