How to recycle the many plastic lids on shoe box storages?

My plastic boxes are broken but their lids are good. Any ideas on recycling them such as in the garden to protect plants from wind?

I love that idea to use them to protect plants, I'd love to see how you do that! You can also use them as plant markers- use acrylic paints to mark which plants are which, this way they'll have double use!
