How to use this metal basket frame?

This is the metal frame from a basket. The only thing that I can think to do with it is to use fabric strips to make a fabric basket. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Take it to the Dollar Store, and see if any of their containers fit inside. They have tons of colorful flexible plastic containers. You might also check their huge salad bowls too.

Modify it to be a lamp shade (hung from the ceiling). The bottom of the frame would be the top and the open area would be the bottom. I can see a really nice chandelier made from it.

Make solid bottom for it. See if a lazy-Suzanne would fit in it, if it does place on top of solid base. Using card stock or cards that match your decor, tape cards to the wire openings (pretty side facing out). Leave one or two open. Put two commander hooks in under cabinets, spaced by the handles of your basket. Place frequently used spices in on the lazy-suzanne. That way you can get them easily and your counter is free!

Make a hanging light from the basket. Purchase a light kit and attach it to the basket. For decoration you can hang beads, jewels, or pearls from it using fishing line. You also make a shade by tieing strips of fabric from the rungs of the basket. If you wanted to change the color, you can simply spray paint it before you begin. Have fun!

Hi Deborah, I saw something similar and the lady used the frame upside down to form a hanging lamp shade. She attached numerous chains strips in varied lengths to form a kind of industrial style lamp shade , each chain link about a 2cm width, but I am sure you can use a varied link size selection. All large chains were attached from top ring and smaller ones some from bottom ring.

Line it with cocoa fiber (available at garden and dollar stores), attach hanging chains and use it as a hanging planter.
