I need ideas for recycling silver tea service (silver plated)...

inherited from Mother and Mother-in-law, our children are not interested in having them (like me not liking to polish, etc.)..tea pots, water pitcher, creamer and sugar sets, platters, and more.

    When I can't think of something to do with really nice pieces I don't care for, especially family things, I donate them to a couple of civic clubs in town that do regular auctions to raise money. One is a club my granddaddy belonged to. The other is for victims of domestic violence in honor of my grandmother who lived in a violent scary marriage with my grandfather until his death. During the lead up to the big annual auction members of the club will pick up.

    theres a liquid silver cleaner that I use. It’s so easy and no rubbing and it gets in all the deep crevices too

    I agree with Janet Pizaro! Complete silver ( even plated) tea sets do have some value. I would check for any makers marks and do some research. You can also look on Ebay. Many prominent silversmiths did make plated silver sets for the consumer market.

    eI find old silver plate tea sets and turn them into wind chimes using glass beads and silver plate silverware. Here is one I did just using the silver plate silverware, I'm trying to find a pic of one using the pieces from the tea service.
