My sister put her old baby dolls in it & used it as a display. I passed basket/cradle onto another relative or friend who was preggers at the time. The last time I passed it back to the person who provided it to me. She then inturn sold it at a garage sale. I loved that basket/bassinet. I used it for 2 children! However those type of items are rather expensive just to turn into a keepsake memorial. Reuse it & allow others to partake in the joy of using such a treasured item!

The same discussion was held back in May/June about another old cradle. There are a lot of good ideas here:

I also did a google search but many of the items are cribs, not cradles. You can look through the images and if you see an interesting picture, click on it then click Visit on the right. To go back, hit your back button and close that picture with the X at the top right of the picture. The rest will come back and you can resume your search.

I wish you the best on this project.

If you are not attached to it, donate or sell it. If you are perhaps you could use it as a shelf or display place or perhaps for decorative storage.

I have a couple of ideas for you. This is what i did with ours: My oldest daughters cradle is in my mud room. It sits to the right of the door-It makes a great storage spot. All our hats, gloves and odds/end items get thrown in it--with the kids i have- it works great. Our kids like to put their shoes underneath it. My middle daughter's was used before we got it, I wasn't sure how safe it was -so i didnt feel right about giving it away. Today, not only is it part of my one time a year holiday manger setting but it is also part of my landscaping. During the regular seasons I have metal chairs set on each side, i put a flower box inside it and fill it with flowers. My neighbors seem to think its a great place to stop, relax and chat. My youngest's cradle is now being used for my grandson. Good luck:)

Paint it a high-gloss color, and seal it with a weather protector. Put your plants in it on the lawn or on the side of your house, near your side door.
